If you're looking for a luxury Bayeux hotel, you will have an array of options on the internet, but the best place to take a holiday is at Chateau de L'isle Marie. Bayeux is apart of the Calvados department and is a commune in the in the department of Normandy France. Bayeux is the home of the Bayeux Tapestry, one of the oldest surviving complete tapestries in the world. Just a stone's throw from Sainte-Mère-Eglise, the first village to be liberated by the Allied Forces, L'Isle-Marie was able to open its doors to World War II veterans who gathered there from around the world.

Luxury Bayeux hotels are located just a few kilometres from the coast of the English Channel and between the city of Caen to the east and the base of the Cotentin Peninsula to the west. The River Aure runs through the town of Bayeux.

The area around the village is called the Bessin which was a province of France until the French Revolution. The name of the town and of its region come from the Celtic tribe of Bajocasses who inhabited the area. During the Second World War Bayeux was one of the first French towns to be liberated during the Battle of Normandy, and on 16 June 1944 General Charles de Gaulle made his first important speech on liberated French soil in Bayeux. The buildings in Bayeux were virtually untouched during the Battle of Normandy as the German forces defending the town were pulled away to help defend Caen. The town hosts the largest British war cemetery in Normandy.

Bayeux is the perfect place to spend a weekend in an exceptional hotel as it is a major tourist attraction, best known to British and French visitors. Chateau de L'isle Marie is the most romantic spot for your travels. The tapestry is believed to have been woven in England. It is displayed in a museum in the town centre. Hidden away on Normandy's Cotentin Peninsula, the Chateau de l'Isle-Marie has been painstakingly restored into a très intime five-room guesthouse. After 18 years of work, Dorothea has created a welcoming and authentic family house. Keeping an eye on every detail, from the beds covered in toile de Jouy that she sewed herself to the engravings and portraits that line the walls, she has built a place where those who visit feel they had been eagerly awaited by an old friend and welcomed with open arms on the steps of the portico.
